I am very pleased to announce that friend of this charity, Jill Saxby, has kindly agreed to be a patron of “20-20 Voice” Cancer.
We are delighted that Jill has decided to favour our charity for she knows only too well the depths of despair that cancer can bring having been a full time SLT (Speech & Language Therapist). Though Willie had retired from tournament play Willie T & Jill are still ‘large as life figures’ on the snooker circuit. Sadly, as we all now know, Willie passed away recently so Jill has kindly taken over.
Jill has now organised a tournament at the Dunstable Snooker Club, a rather splendid venue I might add, to be known as the “Willie Thorne Memorial Trophy” which will be held some time around October we think. Top names, old & present day will be invited to play and all proceeds will go to this charity, Willie’s favoured charity. We thank Singh Suny for providing this marvellous opportunity and look forward to meeting all the snooker stars at the tournament in Dunstable.
“Mr 147” may have left the tables but he will never be forgotten…and that is a promise!
